I have been a successful TaeKwonDo Instructor for over 30 years gaining numerous competition wins in my career before using my knowledge and insight into coaching my students to equal success. I am currently a 7th Degree Master in ITF TaeKwonDo.
After retiring from competitive Martial Arts I wanted to see how I could apply my way of training and nutrition to Power Lifting. Over the past 5 years I have competed in the 90kg, 82.5, and 75kg divisions , winning the Nationals and gaining 16 National records along the way. The pinnacle of my lifting career were in 2016 when I took the Deadflift World Record for my weight class at the age of 52 and then in 2018 becoming World Champion in the Worlds held in Manchester, UK.
Through this period I have worked on a nutrition plan that in 7 months saw me drop 20kg with only losing less than 5% strength.
Now training at Platform Gym in Barnstaple, North Devon I combine martial arts and power lifting to achieve my set goals.
Further to these successes I have had a few trauma injuries, some from training and others from living life to the full. After what most people would view as setbacks I have always come back stronger, more determined and won competition after competition using a guided, focus mindset and the ability to intelligently work around my recovery program. I now want to share this successful formula with future champions.
